I want to make magic I want to be bigger than I am I want to make people really care Really give a damn I want to make magic... Like the lyrics from "I Want To Make Magic" from "Fame: The Musical", the kids who participate in CMT are looking for that same 'magic' through their own performances. These theater kids often go on to do some amazing things -- some in the arts and some outside of the arts. But, the passion that drives them to be great in these student productions and the friendships they foster in them will help them achieve their personal goals no matter what they do next.

San Jose Childrens Musical Theater

CMT San Jose trains and educates today’s youth through musical theater to set and achieve high artistic and personal goals, and to inspire them to become exemplary artists, patrons, and citizens of tomorrow.

In a normal year, CMT mounts ten full-scale musical productions at the historic Montgomery Theater in downtown San Jose. CMT offers a robust arts education program providing year-round training, master classes, guest artist series, winter, and summer camp. Our Student Matinees offer affordable weekday performances to audiences of young people, many of whom are experiencing the gift of live theater for the very first time. CMT prides itself on being a reflection of the community it serves, with an ethnically diverse staff, board of directors, and roster of participants.
