That is why we are taking action by putting on our walking shoes and participating in the ALS Sunrise Walk. Not only for our dad but for everyone living with this devastating disease. ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and is also
known as the Lou Gehrig’s disease. It is an incurable
nerve- and muscle disease. Your muscles stop
working one by one.
On average, within 3 years, someone who is diagnosed
with ALS will pass away. Little is known about the cause
of this terrible disease and a lot of research is
needed. In order to do this research we need a lot of
money.
The relatively small amount of ALS-patients (1500 in The
Netherlands) makes financing scientific research to the
cause and treatment of this deadly disease very
hard.
